Fall Festival
One-Act and 10-Minute Play Submissions

Please follow these rules:

1) Your play must fit our theater and its performance space (Stage is 24'x15', with black walls and floor, curtained        entrances are upstage right and left, while and entry door is located left of upstage center.

2) Online submissions are required, use the format upload it  below or email submissions to 10minute@spectralsisters.com

3) Documents must be in .doc or .docx format.

4) Because plays are judged blind, all identifying information must be removed.   Your name, character descriptions, and stage instructions should be placed on a separate sheet. 

5) Your play should be NEW.  Please do no send us anything that has been previously produced.  

6) Your play must be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of  20 minutes in length (maximum 4,000 words).  Remember something has to happen in those 10 to 20 minutes.

7) Your play must contain at least two characters, but no more than five speaking roles.

8) Spectral Sisters has a pool of actors ranging from ages 18 to 80, so make sure the characters can be played within that range.

9) No children's plays or musicals; however, a capella singing may be incorporated.

10) FINAL SUBMISSONS must be made no later than August 24, 2024.

11) There is a $20 submission fee for each entry.

12) The winning entries will be announced September 14, 2024, immediately following the fall playwrighting workshop.

13) All playwrights whose plays are selected must agree to and sign our guidelines for production.

14) Only one entry will be accepted from each playwright. 

15) The plays that win will be staged and recorded.

Entries that do not satisfy the submission requirements will be eliminated. All qualified submissions will be adjudicated by third-party judges. We're hoping to hear from our SSP veterans as well as some exciting new voices!

 

Presubmission Reading, Saturday, August 17 @ 10:00 AM

A presubmission reading session will offer each participating writer an opportunity to hear their play read out loud, gauge its running time, and receive valuable feedback for changes, cuts, or other improvements before submission. The session will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 17, on the 2nd floor of the Rapides Foundation Building (Johnston Street entrance), downtown Alexandria.
